Special Students
The status of "Special Student" applies to someone who is not enrolling in a degree program, rather is enrolling in an individual course for one or more of the following reason:
- For personal enrichment
- Toward a certificate rather than a degree
- If you plan to transfer the course to another institution
- If you want to start a course(s) while your admission process is completed
Special Students
- Can enroll in a maximum of 12 credits
- Must meet prerequisites for courses
- Are not obligated to follow specific degree requirements
- Are not eligible for financial aid
- May be admitted to a degree program after completing the admission process and any in-progress coursework. Check program requirements for more information.
Undergraduate Special Students
To enroll
- Review a complete list of online and print-based courses in the course offerings
- Complete the Special Student Application.
Graduate Special Students
Students who have earned a bachelor’s degree from a nationally or regionally accredited institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) may register as a Special Student. You will receive academic credit for courses taken while on this status.
